* building a better flytrap by Sokudo Ningyou
In true Sokudo style, this is again another wildly original one-parter that rips the canon apart and takes the reader to an alternative route in the interpretation of a character. This time, the spotlight is on Neptune, and fans of this particular senshi should be prepared to have their minds warped. I didn't really get into this story as much as I had for Sokudo's other stories, but in terms of style, language and originality, this is certainly a story that shouldn't be missed.
* Cocoon of the Butterfly: Hair-dye on a Weekday by blue
The Senshi of the Oceans and Seas seem to be quite popular with the authors recently. ^_^ In any case, this is another solid fic on Michiru, but the focus is on her family this time. Through blue's narrative, we learnt the reasons behind Michiru's aqua-coloured hair, her love for the violin, and why she seems to be alone all the time before she met Haruka. Still, perhaps because the idea of Michiru having a wealthy family background is too firmly established through the various other fics before this, I find this version a little hard to believe - no fault on the part of blue of course. Whatever it is, this is still an excellent story. Do read.
Blood and Moonlight by beauty_3000
A vampire fic. Even though it is just 2 chapters long still, and so far, all that has been written are unconnected flashbacks that do not make much sense as yet, there is a certain potential in this fic. The author's command of language is strong, and though the scenes are very scattered (probably on purpose), it does convey a sense of struggle, desperation and weariness. I shall look forward to the continuation to this fic. ^_^
Hands Fall Together: Lost Scenes by KihinRanno
Those who have not read "Hands Fall Together" should really go and read it. Such a wonderful story shouldn't be missed. In any case, this is a collection of vignettes that was cut from the original story, and from my point of view, they certainly can stand well on their own. I especially like reading Perfect, where we are offered glimpses into the very beginning, the family of a senshi. The second chapter, from the title alone You Can't Save the World Until You Finish Your Vegetables already draws out its intention to amuse. ^_~ Have fun reading!
* All I Want For Christmas by Dave Ziegler
Even though Christmas is over, this still brings a whiff of holiday cheer to me. ^_^ Fun and wacky, we see Minako at her best as she tries her damnest best to get what she wants for Christmas, effectively entangling many other innocent bystanders in her typical Minako-way. Read and laugh!
Youma Dust by shoddywork
I've always liked reading about how ordinary humans see the Sailor Senshi phenomenon. After all, if your city suddenly comes alive with youmas and Senshi, with explosions and destructions accompanying each fight, it shouldn't be 'everything-as-usual', would it? This story is from a perspective of an experienced detective, who is following a case of mysterious explosions, leading him unsuspecting to a whole new world, a world he never believed in before. A brilliant fic, with the only lament being that the ending is too abrupt, and didn't really bring the story to a satisfactory close. Otherwise, a fic worth reading. ^_~
